Teen Library Card Program

Development of the Teen Card

There was a lot of research into what teens are into these days. Makes me sound old right? Our first thought was retro style video games, but after creating a few concepts I didn’t want to pidgin hold us to video games and not all teens are gamers. So back to the drawing board…get it? We were seeing some collage styled things and hand drawn letters and thought why not try something like that? The card below shows the teen creative spirit and indecisiveness of growing up, with a slightly more grown up fun feel.

Teen Tracker

They can track their visits to the library to earn some of the items below. The card on the tracker is perforated so they can punch it out and take it with them.

Teen Card Print Materials

The idea behind these was to make it like an adult coloring book, so that the teens have the freedom to customize it as they wish. The notebook, pocket folder and book mark are great for school supplies and are also great to entice them to track their visits at the library. The notebook has blank pages on the left side of each spread for them to doodle and lines on the right side for notes. The coloring spread (also featured as the pocket folder’s front and back cover) has the 5 library icons and represent Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs; ranging from basics, like food & water, to transforming yourself and opening a business.

Teen Card Swag

Below are the t-shirt concepts and reusable bags. The all white shirt with the black text would work like the print materials and would allow then freedom to customize it to fit their own personalities. The black shirt and bag we thought would work better to lead them toward the adult card (which is all black with just the icons/logo on it).
